Success Stories: O-1 Visa Approved for Award-Winning Actress/Comedian at the U.S. Consulate in Guayaquil

Photo by Sofia on Unsplash. The O-1 extraordinary ability visa is a temporary (non-immigrant) visa for someone who possesses extraordinary ability in the sciences, arts, education, business, or athletics, or who has a demonstrated record of extraordinary achievement in the motion picture or television industry and has been recognized nationally or internationally for those achievements.

We recently received an approval for an O-1B Artist Visa for an Ecuadorian National who is an award-winning comic actress and comedian of extraordinary ability. The beneficiary is an Ecuadorian national and applied for a visa at the U.S. Consulate in Guayaquil with a petitioning U.S. entity. Congratulations to our clients!

Extraordinary ability for artists who work in film and television have a slightly higher evidentiary standard, called extraordinary achievement, than other O-1 artists whose work must meet the lower legal standard of distinction. Receipt of a significant national award, among other distinctions may satisfy this extraordinary achievement standard along with other evidence of extraordinary ability. In this case, the beneficiary has received multiple awards from prestigious awarding bodies throughout her distinguished career spanning two decades.
